Customers buy beverages

When you purchase a ready to drink beverage in Saskatchewan you are charged a deposit that gets refunded when you recycle the container at SARCAN

Customers bring empty containers to SARCAN

When you bring an empty beverage container to SARCAN to collect your deposit refund, the beverage container starts its journey to get recycled into a new product

Containers are sorted by type and size

After your containers are tallied, they are consolidated by material type and get flattened and shipped to one of SARCAN's processing plants in Saskatoon or Regina.

Containers are prepared for shipping

All of the containers collected across the province are sent for processing where they are further compacted into bales and sent to be turned into new products .

Down-stream processors purchase the baled salvage material and turn it into useful products such as fleece jackets, plastic wood and paper products.
